White Sox, Cubs to salute Chicago cops; Sox throwing in free tickets for Chicago cops

The Cubs and White Sox will hold separate tributes Wednesday to honor Chicago police officers for their work during the weekend NATO summit and the Crosstown series held at Wrigley Field.

The Sox will hold an in-game tribute as they play the Minnesota Twins and also will provide two complimentary tickets to each police officer for one of 10 future games.

‘‘Mayor Emanuel asked the White Sox to join the city in honoring the men and women of the Chicago Police Department who represent the most dedicated and finest of our great city, and we are proud to recognize their service,’’ Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said.

Chicago police officers have demonstrated supreme dedication, professionalism and training,’’ Emanuel said. ‘‘This is an incredible gesture by the White Sox to honor the commitment of our men and women in uniform, and I extend my most sincere gratitude to this tremendous Chicago organization.’’

The Cubs will host a Police Appreciation Day at the 19th District near Wrigley Field ‘‘as a thank-you to our local district and other assisting officers’ service during NATO and the Crosstown series,’’ said Julian Green, the Cubs’ vice president of communications and community affairs. ‘‘We had planned this prior to NATO.’’

The average cop will never see the tickets the same thing happened over here in the big crapple when they had the concert for heros at MSG . Not one single person I know was even asked if they wanted to go just about every pencil pusher at the puzzle palace got them. I hoe I'm wrong but I wouldn't hold my breath .
P.S
Great job the last few weeks by you guys and gals.

Keep the Sox tickets and bump up my pay during the next contract negotiations. My family doesn't need to go to an overpriced ball game that we can't afford. Also, if you want to honor the police, keep your promises and leave our fucking pensions alone.

Notice how the tickets were offered but no mention of how to claim them.

They will still make money. Bring a friend, parking, food, and beer.

Sox will honor the police with free tickets to watch them play.
Cubs will honor the police by not making them watch them play.

Stop griping and take the tickets. It is a nice gesture, especially getting to watch a Major League team and not the Cubs.

Cops did a good job. Take some recognition for it.

Stop dwelling on the negative and soak in some positive recognition!
